Gone Fishing

He peers into the fishing net--
proud to have caught something
yet afraid of what he snared.

He tentatively lifts his prize
at arms length and holds his breath
as curiosity gets the better of him.

For shallow water, his catch is large.
He's tempted to throw it back.
The thrill was only in the hunt.
